Job summary

Knife River Corporation - Mountain West in Boise, Idaho seeks an Asphalt Plant Operator to safely operate and maintain the asphalt plant, manage daily plant duties, and communicate with customers about orders and needs.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of asphalt plant operation experience, strong math skills, and the ability to read specifications, work in high spaces, and support quality control and safety programs; occasional nights, weekends, and travel between plants may be

Qualifications

• Minimum two years experience in asphalt plant operation.
• Ability to monitor multiple plant systems for quality and profitability.
• Experience working in high and confined spaces.
• Good math skills and ability to work with specifications with accuracy.
• Strong planning, organization, communication and observation.
• Ability to read and comprehend specifications and operator manuals.
• Mechanical ability with welding and fabrication; troubleshoot effectively.
• Positive attitude and teamwork; able to work with others.
• Loader operation experience is helpful.
• Able to pass pre-employment checks and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain asphalt plant in a safe and efficient manner.
• Manage schedules/hours and daily duties for all plant personnel.
• Communicate with internal and external customers about daily orders and needs.
• Track inventories of incoming and outgoing products.
• Participate in quality control and safety programs.
• Operate equipment and perform plant maintenance as directed by supervisor.
• Willingness to work in a high-pressure environment.
• Occasional travel between plants as needed by supervisor.
