7-On7-Off A week
9:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Training Schedule: (flexible training available)
Week 1: Tuesday – Friday
9:00 PM – 5:30 AM
Week 2: Tuesday – Friday
9:00 PM – 7:30 AM

*Hourly rate is an estimate only, including shift differentials for nights, evenings, or weekends. Overall rates vary based on schedule.

Primary Purpose:
The ASM Technician I provides pre- and post-analytic support for laboratory testing sections within ARUP. Responsibilities include maintaining specimen integrity during transport, storing specimens, supporting equipment troubleshooting and maintenance, and delivering excellent customer service to all ARUP staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Handle specimens accurately during transport according to departmental procedures.
  • Manage specimens on the automated track system.
  • Store specimens in the AS/RS system, both automated and manual modes.
  • Develop proficiency with automation systems and basic troubleshooting.
  • Use laboratory information systems such as MasterControl, LEaP, Millennium, LTD, and others related to ASM duties.
  • Maintain a clean work area, document cleaning and maintenance activities.
  • Understand and participate in the Quality Assurance program.
  • Build critical thinking skills relevant to responsibilities.
  • Show initiative to learn beyond assigned duties.
  • Meet productivity measures as per group procedures.
  • Assist colleagues when workload allows.
  • Follow safety regulations per ARUP policies.
  • Participate in ongoing training and stay updated on process changes.
  • Identify and solve problems, taking appropriate actions to prevent errors that could impact patients or operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical and Other Requirements:
Includes bending, reaching, mobility within the facility, communication, PPE use in a biohazard environment, adherence to ARUP policies, exerting force up to 10 pounds, fine motor control, and visual acuity including color perception.
