Primary Purpose

The Processing Delivery Technician works under general supervision of the Specimen Processing (SP) management team to properly handle specimens received at ARUP’s central facility and prepares and transports specimens for laboratory testing. The position includes communicating closely with Specimen Processors and ASM Technicians, and assisting with non-processing duties within the SP department. Attends team and staff meetings. Routinely picks up specimens of different temperatures.

7-On/7-Off, B week, Tuesday - Monday, 9:30 PM - 8:00 AM

Essential Functions

• Attend team and staff meetings.
• Pick up specimens of varying temperatures routinely.
• Deliver specimens promptly to the Automated Specimen Management (ASM) area.
• Handle ambient, refrigerated, and frozen specimens properly.
• Recognize all specimen types/containers.
• Organize and maintain collection bins and processing stations.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment like centrifuges and biohazard cabinets.
• Maintain safety policies, including proper PPE use.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical and Other Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work in a biosafety environment with PPE.
• Reliable attendance and dependable performance.
• Ability to work overtime as required.

Qualifications
