Job summary

Agency seeks an ASL expert to help train and evaluate advanced language models. You will engage with the model on ASL communication scenarios and linguistic theory, ensuring accuracy and cultural relevance while documenting failures for model improvement.

Ideal candidates hold degrees in Deaf Studies, Linguistics or related fields, with RID certification or interpreting experience being a plus. This is a remote contract position with compensation based on experience and location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Deaf Studies, Sign Language Interpreting, Linguistics, or related field.
• Fluency in American Sign Language with strong cultural knowledge.
• Metacognitive communication – show your work – is essential.

Responsibilities

• Converse with the model on real-world ASL scenarios and linguistics questions.
• Verify linguistic accuracy and cultural appropriateness of outputs.
• Document reproducible error traces and suggest prompt improvements.
