Job summary

Alturas Academy in Idaho seeks an American Sign Language Interpreter to support a Deaf or Hard of Hearing student throughout the school day. The interpreter facilitates effective communication among students, teachers, staff, and peers with a focus on access to instruction.

The role requires ASL and English fluency, an EIPA 3.5+ or RID certification, and collaboration with educational teams while upholding confidentiality and IEP procedures.

Qualifications

• Fluency in American Sign Language and English is required.
• EIPA score 3.5+ or RID certification is required.
• Experience interpreting in an educational setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate ASL interpretation during instruction and school events.
• Facilitate communication among student, teachers, staff, and peers.
• Interpret both directions (spoken English to ASL and ASL to spoken English).
• Support student participation and maintain confidentiality.
