Job summary

Nampa School District #131 is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to provide interpreting and support services for deaf and hard of hearing students across school settings.

The role requires collaboration with teachers, IEP teams, and families to promote communication access, including interpretation for meetings and events. A strong ASL/English command and professional conduct are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• EIPA 3.5+ or NAD certification or RID certification within 1 year of hire.
• Two to three years of ASL interpreting experience preferred.
• Classroom or instructional experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides interpreting for DHH pupils in all areas of the educational environment.
• Provides tutoring and/or note taking services for DHH students.
• Follows the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment guidelines of professional conduct.
• Participates as a member of the IEP team at meetings and conference with insights on communication.
• Interprets IEP meetings when not participating as a team member.
• Interprets for conferences, meetings, events when necessary.
• Prepares for daily lessons and media for interpreting.
• Maintain records and contribute to student progress discussions.
• Represent the school district positively and adhere to policy.
