Job summary

Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction is seeking a Child Care Counselor for the WI School for the Deaf in Delavan. The role supports students who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind by fostering independence through individualized training and daily living activities. This is a 0.80 FTE, school-year position, onsite with potential shift variations.

Fluency in American Sign Language is required by hire, with ASLPI rating of 2+ by end of probation. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Willingness to work in a bilingual/bicultural environment, including deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing individuals.
• Experience working with children.
• American Sign Language fluency.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and counseling services for students who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind.
• Support students' independence through individual training and daily living experiences.
• Position is full-time, school-year, onsite at DPI’s WI School for the Deaf campus in Delavan, WI.
