Job summary

Abound Health is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide caregiving and daily living support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in Gastonia, NC. Fluency in American Sign Language is required.

The role includes helping with ADLs, community participation, and behavioral support to help clients live independently. The company offers paid training, weekly pay, and opportunities for growth, with a signing bonus and flexible schedules.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma/GED required.
• Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance.
• Ability to pass criminal record, driving record, and healthcare registry checks.
• Comfortable supporting shy individuals and building rapport.
• Ability to drive for community outings (required).

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships and support individuals in achieving personal goals
• Assist with daily living activities such as meal preparation, hygiene, and household tasks
• Support individuals in community participation, employment, and social activities
• Use adaptive tools to aid learning and facilitate communication
• Encourage independence and help individuals develop new skills
• Monitor health and safety while maintaining a supportive environment
• Communicate with Abound team members, families, and external parties (case managers, etc.) as needed
• Complete documentation and maintaining schedules
• Complete ongoing training and professional development
