Job summary

Heartland Food Products Group seeks a Production Supervisor for our Indianapolis, IN plant. This on-site role oversees packers, machine operators, and blenders, guiding daily production goals with emphasis on safety and quality.

You will manage shift schedules, train staff, and ensure adherence to SQF, HACCP, and company policies while driving continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science required.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in manufacturing and supervision.
• Minimum of 2 years' Aseptic experience.
• Superior analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Demonstrates essential problem-solving methods and initiative.
• Ability to perform under pressure and to solve problems independently.
• Ability to communicate well with all employees and customers.
• Ability to work scheduled shift and rotational weekends.

Responsibilities

• Enforces safety and sanitation regulations per food safety and quality guidelines.
• Responsible for initiating appropriate actions that address Food Safety concerns, including escalation to Quality and Management.
• Utilizes all food safety and food security guidelines, including SQF GMPs and HACCP.
• Directs and coordinates the activities of the employees engaged in production or processing of goods.
• Develops and motivates team to solve day-to-day operational issues and achieve plant goals.
• Coordinates daily inventories and supplies and other operational activities within or between departments.
• Plans and establishes work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
• Inspects materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
• Observes work and monitors gauges to ensure standards.
• Conducts employee training in equipment operations and safety procedures.
• Maintains records of attendance and hours worked.
• Counsels employees about work-related issues and assists with skill development.
• Recommends or initiates personnel actions for direct reports.
• Interprets specifications, blueprints, job orders, and policies for workers.
• Initiates and drives process improvements.
• Reads and analyzes charts, work orders, and production schedules to determine requirements.
• Documents records per policies (production, HACCP, SOPs, quality plans).
• Oversees production documentation and control documentation throughout the facility.
• All other duties as assigned.
