Job summary

Heartland Food Products Group in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical leadership for aseptic manufacturing and packaging, driving improvements in equipment effectiveness, reliability and safety. This role is 100% onsite at the Indianapolis plant.

You will partner with Operations, Quality and Engineering to introduce new products, manage cross‑functional projects, analyze data to reduce cost, and design or troubleshoot equipment while complying with FDA, GMP

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required (Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in a production manufacturing facility with emphasis on OEE and Manufacturing process improvements, Process & Equipment Design, and Project management.
• Experience managing projects and being a hands‑on leader
• Experience in a food grade environment (FDA, GMP's, HACCP) with high speed packaging equipment preferred
• Excellent computer skills, extensive Process and Packaging equipment design and operation, automation and controls (PLC, DCS, etc.) knowledge.
• Demonstrated proficiency in use of Process Excellence tools and Design for Six Sigma DFSS, (DMAIC, DOE, VSM, RCA, FMEA, etc.).
• Familiar with Auto-Cad/Draft site

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects to improve machine efficiency, uptime, reliability, and maintenance activity efficiency.
• Develop data acquisition and performance measurement techniques to gather and analyze critical data to improve process cost, component cost, and manufacturing reliability
• Advise management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and inter-departmental relations.
• Maintain knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and develop plans accordingly.
• Specify, design, and execute a portfolio of projects focused on Capacity, Process and Cost Improvements with cross-functional partnering.
• Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using fabrication processes, tooling, and production equipment.
