Job summary

Heartland Food Products Group in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to provide technical leadership for aseptic manufacturing and packaging processes, driving improvements in equipment effectiveness and operational excellence. This 100% onsite role partners with Operations, Quality and Engineering.

You will lead engineering projects, analyze data, mentor production staff, and implement cost-reducing solutions across capacity, process and tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing) required.
• 3+ years in a production manufacturing facility focused on OEE and process improvements.
• Hands-on leadership with project management experience.
• Experience in a food-grade environment (FDA, GMP, HACCP) with high-speed packaging.
• Proficiency in process and packaging equipment design and operation; automation and controls (PLC, DCS).
• Familiar with DFSS tools (DMAIC, DOE, VSM, RCA, FMEA).
• Familiar with AutoCAD or DraftSight.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead engineering projects to improve machine efficiency, uptime, reliability, and maintenance efficiency.
• Gather and analyze data to improve process cost, component cost, and manufacturing reliability.
• Advise management on developments affecting profit, schedule, costs, and inter-department relations.
• Identify opportunities to improve products or reduce costs using fabrication knowledge of processes and equipment.
• Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes.
• Train production personnel in new methods.
• Design, install, or troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across Operations, Quality, and Engineering.
