Job summary

Lansing School District is seeking a Specialized Assistant to support students, especially those with disabilities, in the ASD Resource Room at Dwight Rich. You will work closely with teachers to engage students during lessons and foster safe, inclusive learning environments.

The role emphasizes one-on-one and small-group support, relationship-building with students and families, and adherence to district safety and instructional standards. A path toward teaching certification is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Must have one of the following: Associate's Degree, 60 completed college credits, or proof of passing ETS Paraprofessional Exam.
• Experience working with students in small group or RTI settings is preferred.
• Desire to become a certified teacher long term is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate passion for working with students, especially one-on-one and in small groups, including students with special education needs.
• Prioritize tasks as assigned by teachers and school leaders.
• Ensure safety of students on caseload.
• Learn and grow by incorporating feedback from school leaders, colleagues, students, and professional development.
• Build relationships with students and parents to create a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment.
• Other duties as assigned to support the Lansing School District mission.
