Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a dedicated full-time paraprofessional to support an elementary student with Autism in a 1:1 role. Start ASAP through May 2027, onsite near New Waverly, TX.

You will help the student access learning, implement plans, and engage in life-skills activities in a supportive classroom environment. Responsibilities include collaborating with teachers, monitoring progress, and ensuring safety and inclusion throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Paraprofessional or education support experience required.
• Familiar with special education settings, particularly with Autism.
• Knowledge of de-escalation and behavioral intervention strategies.
• Ability to stay calm, compassionate and responsive in challenging scenarios.
• Reliability, professionalism and teamwork.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certs a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 direct support to a student exhibiting self-harm behaviors.
• Collaborate with teachers and specialists to implement behavior and learning plans.
• Monitor, document, and report student progress and incidents as needed.
• Assist with daily classroom activities to encourage participation and engagement.
• Support student safety and well-being at all times.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
