Job summary

The Charleston Gaillard Center in Charleston, SC is seeking a Custodial Supervisor to lead day-to-day and event custodial operations, schedule part-time staff, and ensure the venue is prepared for performances, rehearsals, and private functions.

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, you will inspect spaces, enforce safety, provide hands-on cleaning, and coordinate with other departments to turn rooms quickly, maintaining high standards during busy event calendars.

Qualifications

• Four years custodial or janitorial experience, with at least one year in a lead or supervisory role.
• Familiarity with cleaning methods for terrazzo, marble, wood, and carpet.
• Ability to lead and train a custodial team and contractors.
• Basic computer skills (email and Office) for records and reports.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight shifts.

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on custodial work and cover staffing gaps for events.
• Schedule and direct part-time staff for daily operations and events.
• Serve as on-site supervisor during events and address routine requests.
• Inspect areas and correct deficiencies; report results.
• Complete event turns with cleaning, restocking, and sanitizing.
• Train staff on cleaning methods, equipment, and safety.
• Ensure safe chemical use and enforce safety procedures.
• Monitor consumables and coordinate with other departments.
• Maintain records for inspections, staffing, and supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities.
