Job summary

University of Pikeville’s Appalachian Center for the Arts offers an Internship – Arts Center Tech/Design Assistant to support technical theatre and design during summer camps and related programs at 218 2nd Street, Pikeville, KY. The role provides hands-on experience while applying classroom knowledge in a real-world setting.

Intern will work with the production team on sets, props, sound and light designs, and backstage duties, gaining problem-solving and network opportunities in the performing

Qualifications

• A current UPIKE student with interest/major/minor in Theatre or relevant field.
• No prior work experiences needed.
• Experience with power tools, musical instrument and band setup, painting, arts, and theatre is helpful but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building and designing sets and props for theatre productions.
• Help with back stage show run duties.
• Assist in event set ups.
• Help with sound and light designs.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Technical Director.
