Job summary

Dallas Symphony Orchestra in Dallas invites a mission-driven Grant Writer to advance fundraising across annual fund, endowment, and special campaigns. The role partners with departments to craft compelling proposals and reports that communicate the DSO’s programs and impact to funders.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in nonprofit fields and at least three years writing grants, excellent editing and relationship-building skills, and is comfortable with a hybrid schedule and evening

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit mgmt, arts admin, writing, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years grant writing or related fundraising experience.
• Exceptional writing and editing with adaptable tone for different audiences.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience with budgets and financial information for proposals.
• Highly organized with ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Interest in performing arts and community impact.
• Some evening/weekend work and hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of 40+ foundation donors representing $1.3M+ in annual recurring contributed revenue.
• Write and submit high-quality grant proposals to family, community, private, national, and government funders.
• Tailor each proposal to meet funders' requirements and guidelines.
• Design and develop compelling materials using Canva and other tools to communicate programs and funding priorities.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to gather program data, budgets, and outcomes for proposals.
• Develop and steward relationships with existing and prospective funders.
• Research and evaluate new grant prospects, deadlines, and submissions.
• Prepare and submit timely reports detailing outcomes and impact.
• Maintain organized records of grant activity and results.
• Coordinate funder benefits and engagement needs.
• Draft internal and external communications for the Development team.
