Job summary

The Dallas Symphony Association seeks a Grant Writer to support fundraising across annual funds, endowment, and campaigns. You will craft compelling proposals, reports, and donor communications to articulate the organization’s impact.

Collaborating across departments, you will gather program details and budgets, cultivate funder relationships, and identify new prospects. Hybrid work and occasional evening/weekend support are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in nonprofit management, arts administration, writing, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years grant writing or fundraising experience.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and grammatical skills with adaptable tone for different audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships.
  • Experience working with budgets and financial information in support of proposals.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Interest in the performing arts and documenting the DSO’s programming and community impact.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of 40+ foundation donors representing $1.3M+ in annual recurring contributed revenue.
  • Write and submit high-quality grant proposals to family, community, private, national, and government funders.
  • Tailor each proposal to meet specific funder requirements and guidelines.
  • Design donor-facing materials using Canva and other design/presentation software.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to gather program information, budgets, benchmarks, and outcomes.
  • Develop and steward relationships with existing and prospective funders.
  • Research and evaluate new grant prospects, including deadlines and submission requirements.
  • Prepare and submit timely grant reports detailing outcomes and impact.
  • Maintain organized records of grant activity, submissions, and results.
  • Coordinate funder benefits such as recognition, tickets, receptions, and engagement needs.
  • Draft/edit internal and external communications for the Development team.
