Job summary

Whole Foods Market Tampa is seeking a Bakery Decorator to create and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries and special-order items. You’ll apply artistic talent to finish products that meet our standards and delight customers.

Responsibilities include decorating, assembling, and finishing items, maintaining hygiene, mentoring apprentices, and delivering friendly, knowledgeable service in a fast-paced store environment. Weekend and evening shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6-12 months retail or restaurant experience.
• Bakery Decorator Apprentice training or equivalent experience.
• Prior experience in a professional bakery or grocery store preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and decorate cakes, tarts, select pastry, and special-order bakery items.
• Build, ice, and decorate cakes and other bakery items following standard procedures and maintain production records.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Merchandise and display products; monitor freshness and rotate stock in the display case.
• Provide guidance and support for Bakery Decorator Apprentices and team members.
• Create special order cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Provide excellent customer service and handle calls, messages, and inquiries promptly.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary workspace and comply with safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties with accurate signage and pricing.
• Other duties as assigned.
