Job summary

Grand Central Bakery in Portland, OR is seeking a Baker 1 to learn how to produce high quality artisan loaves while maintaining efficiency and following FSMA guidelines in a production setting.

The role reports to the Production Shift Manager and Shift Lead, with overtime eligibility and a requirement to work weekends. This entry-level position offers training to advance to Baker 2 after the probationary period.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Maintains a valid Food Handler's Card at all times and follows health department guidelines.
• Working knowledge of English preferred.
• Regular attendance and reliability required; weekends and holidays may be needed.
• Basic math skills required.
• Professional baking experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Bake, Mix, Form, Fermentation, Proofing of all products.
• Understands use of all equipment on bread production floor.
• Maintain accurate counts and meet quality/production pace.
• Follows FSMA guidelines and maintains records for food safety goals.
• Communicates equipment issues, supply concerns, and shortages to leadership.
• Has knowledge of all bread products and can describe product properties.
• Uses checklists and training documents to ensure accurate results.
