Orijin is an artisan bakery in Downtown Ann Arbor seeking a Bread Baker to bring our handcrafted breads to life. You will prepare, ferment, shape, score, and bake breads that form the backbone of our bakery, working with a talented team to produce products with precision and care.

Qualifications

• At least one year of commercial bakery or professional kitchen experience.
• Experience with artisan breads, naturally fermented doughs, or sourdough is strongly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Availability for early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, mix, ferment, divide, shape, proof, score, and bake artisan breads.
• Monitor dough development and adjust as needed.
• Produce breads meeting daily production goals and timelines.
• Participate in daily product tastings and quality evaluations.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation throughout the bakery.
• Label, store, and rotate ingredients and finished products using FIFO practices.
• Safely operate and maintain commercial bakery equipment.
• Support pastry production and other bakery operations as needed.
• Assist with developing and refining new breads and seasonal offerings.
• Work collaboratively with the bakery team to ensure smooth daily operations.
