Job summary

Orijin Bakery in Downtown Ann Arbor seeks Service Team Members to warmly welcome guests, take orders, and present our breads and pastries with pride. You’ll support cafe operations, heat items to standard, and help keep a welcoming, clean space.

teamwork is essential as you collaborate with Barista and Bakery staff to deliver an exceptional guest experience. Previous hospitality or retail experience preferred; ability to multitask and communicate well with guests is key.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests with genuine warmth and hospitality.
• Accurately process in-store and phone orders using our POS system.
• Package bakery items and prepare guest orders with care and presentation.
• Heat pastries, sandwiches, quiche, soups, and other menu items per standards.
• Maintain beautiful pastry displays and stocked guest-facing areas.
• Bus tables and keep a clean, inviting café environment.
• Assist with opening and closing responsibilities.
• Wash dishes and support overall bakery cleanliness.
• Learn products to answer guest questions and make recommendations.
• Work with Barista and Bakery teams to deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Requirements

• Previous experience in hospitality, retail, bakery, café, or customer service preferred.
• Experience with cash handling and point-of-sale systems is preferred.
• Comfortable learning and communicating product knowledge, ingredients, and allergen information.
• Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and hospitality standards.
• Reliable transportation and the ability to commute to Orijin's downtown Ann Arbor location, including planning for available parking and arriving in advance of scheduled shifts.

Physical Requirements

• Remain standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Frequently bend, reach, twist, kneel, and lift while stocking displays, preparing orders, cleaning, and assisting guests.
• Lift, carry, and move up to 35 pounds regularly.
• Push and pull carts, racks, and storage containers as needed.
• Perform repetitive hand and wrist movements while packaging products, operating the point-of-sale system, and completing cleaning tasks.
• Work safely around hot beverages, hot food, commercial kitchen equipment, and cleaning chemicals.
• Maintain mobility in confined workspaces while completing multiple tasks efficiently.
