Job summary

DC Army National Guard is seeking a Cannon Crewmember to operate howitzers and learn artillery tactics in support of national defense. You will progress from basic training into Advanced Individual Training, gaining hands-on experience with high-tech weapons systems and field operations.

As you gain skills, you’ll take on greater responsibilities, supervise crewmembers, manage ammunition, and participate in reconnaissance and training activities.

Qualifications

• Must be physically and mentally fit to perform under pressure.
• Ability to make quick decisions.
• Capable of working as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Conduct wire and radio communications
• Identify target locations
• Set, load, and fire artillery
• Use computers to generate fire direction data
• Operate heavy and light wheeled trucks and tracked vehicles
• Transport artillery ammunition
• Maintain operational readiness of vehicles and equipment
• Participate in reconnaissance operations
