Job summary

Vista Innovative Solutions (VIS) seeks an Army Vantage Data Engineer to design and maintain data pipelines in Palantir Foundry and develop AI/ML models for the Army Vantage platform. You will operationalize AI into low-code apps and AI-driven workflows, delivering real-time insights across readiness, logistics, finance, and personnel.

The role requires 5+ years in data engineering or analytics, strong Python/SQL skills, and active DoD security clearance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data engineering, software development, or analytics, including building ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with PySpark or similar distributed data processing.
• Experience applying AI/ML (e.g., predictive modeling, forecasting, NLP, or LLM-enabled workflows) to operational data and putting models into production.
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and organizational skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• CompTIA Security+.
• Active Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines in Palantir Foundry, including ingestion, transformation, and validation of data from multiple Army source systems and legacy platforms.
• Develop analytics and AI/ML models and ontology objects that give users a consistent, trusted view of operational data.
• Operationalize AI by embedding models into low-code applications (e.g., Workshop, Slate) and AI-enabled workflows (e.g., Palantir AIP) that deliver real-time insights on readiness, logistics, finance, and personnel.
• Write and optimize transforms using PySpark, Python, and SQL, including feature engineering and data preparation for model training.
• Gather requirements from Army commanders and staff and translate them into technical and AI-driven solutions.
• Monitor pipeline and model health, troubleshoot failures, and track model performance, accuracy, and drift.
• Apply data governance, security, access-control, and responsible AI standards in line with Army and DoD policy.
• Utilize Agile Framework to manage tasks and document solutions for the Vantage developer community.
