Job summary

Prosegur in Washington, DC is seeking a Security Officer to maintain a safe environment through patrols, monitoring and emergency response.

The role requires an active Armed Security License for DC, an Unarmed License, and strong customer service skills; physical endurance and reliable transportation are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Active, valid Armed Security License for DC
• Unarmed Security License also required
• Military or comparable experience
• At least two years as armed and unarmed security officer
• At least 3 years of Customer Service experience
• Reliable transportation
• Good communications skills
• Ability to stand or walk long periods
• Ability to walk/run stairs daily
• Ability to think clearly during crisis or high-stress periods
• Reliable, positive attitude, ethical behavior
• Able to acquire interim security clearance

Responsibilities

• Armed monitoring and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security/safety of premises
• Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property
• Guard, patrol, and monitor industrial or commercial premises to prevent safety hazards, theft, violence, or infractions of rules
• Enforce rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and respond to emergency situations requiring security assistance
• Escort on foot or by motor vehicle to transport individuals to specified locations or to provide personal protection or to escort persons off customer property
• Write detailed narrative reports and maintain daily activity reports (DARs)
• Provide assistance to customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
• Monitor for irregular or unusual activity
• Secure facility and designated areas
• Enforce facility and company policies and procedures
• Investigate and prepare reports on incidents

• Must have Unarmed Security License as well
• Must have Military or comparable experience
• Must have at least two (2) years of experience as an armed and unarmed security officer
• Must have at least 3 years of Customer Service experience
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must have good communications skills
• Ability to stand or walk for long periods
• Must be able to walk/run flights of stairs on a daily basis.
• Ability to think clearly during crisis or high-stress periods
• Must be reliable, have a positive attitude, and uphold ethical behavior
• Must be able to acquire interim security clearance

Physical Requirements: This position requires significant physical activity throughout the shift. Officers must be able to:

• Walk and stand for extended periods (including completing multiple rounds and patrols of up to 1-2 miles per shift)
• Frequently climb stairs, ramps, or ladders as required by site patrol routes
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Maintain alertness and situational awareness during all patrols
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
