Job summary

Prosegur is seeking a dedicated Security Officer in Topeka, Kansas. You will patrol assigned areas, deter and respond to threats, control access points, and provide emergency response while upholding professional conduct.

The role requires a background in law enforcement or military police, ownership of a firearm and carry license, and compliance with local, state and federal regulations. Flexible shifts include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Background in Military Police, law enforcement, or certified corrections.
• Own firearm and valid carry license; armed guard license as required.
• Certified in arrest control, handcuff and baton use.
• Capable of standing, patrolling and handling confrontations.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal firearm regulations.
• Willing to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas, identifying potential security breaches or hazards
• Deter, detect, and respond to security threats or incidents promptly and professionally
• Control access points and monitor premises to prevent unauthorized access
• Provide emergency response, including de-escalation, arrest control, and restraining individuals as necessary
• Maintain clear and concise incident reports and documentation for all security-related incidents
• Engage with individuals in a courteous and professional manner to enforce rules and regulations
• Coordinate with local law enforcement when required

Key Responsibilities:

• Experience: Background in Military Police, law enforcement, or certified corrections is required
• Firearms: Must have own firearm and a valid license to carry; an armed guard license is required in applicable states
• Training: Certified in arrest control, handcuff, and baton use is preferred
• Physical Fitness: Capable of performing physical duties such as patrolling, responding to incidents, and managing potentially intense confrontations
• Compliance: Understanding of and commitment to all local, state, and federal security and firearm regulations
• Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

• Must have obtained Top Security Clearance in the past 5 years
• Must have obtained a Security Clearance in the past 5 years

Preferred Skills:

• Strong observational skills with a keen attention to detail
• Excellent communication and de-escalation abilities
• High level of professionalism and discretion
• Prior training or certification in security management, conflict resolution, or emergency response

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods
• Capable of lifting or moving objects up to 50 lbs as needed
