Job summary

CHRISTUS Health is seeking an Armed Security Officer to deter criminal activity and secure hospital buildings in Texas. You will patrol facilities, respond to emergencies, and assist staff with patient safety while complying with uniform standards.

The role requires firearm and defensive tactics training, plus TDPSPSB license readiness. Expect shift flexibility and travel between facilities as needed, with strict reporting and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Verbal de-escalation training must be completed within 60 days of hire
• BLS required within 60 days of hire
• Expandable Baton training, defensive tactics training, firearms training, weapon qualification, and firearms retention training must be completed prior to letter of authorization to carry is issued
• Successful completion of all pre-employment assessments including MMPI-2-RF-PCIR; CPI; PPSSR; PEI and a clinical interview
• Will be required to take random drug test screening
• Valid Driver's license required and driving record must meet CHRISTUS Health standards
• For Texas positions: Must hold an active Level 3 Commission with the TDPSPSB; new hires must obtain commission prior to hire

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of the CHRISTUS OneCHRISTUS competencies.
• Conducts frequent security patrols of facilities and grounds.
• Identifies and reports trends related to security issues; recommends actions.
• Takes initial incident information; drafts accurate reports promptly.
• Responds to service requests in a courteous and expeditious manner.
• Controls parking and enforces related rules and citations.
• Assists staff with combative patients or visitors when needed.
• Operates security systems and generates daily activity and incident reports.
• Maintains safety by reporting hazards during rounds.
