Job summary

Thurston County is seeking Court Security Officers to provide armed protection for Superior, Family, Juvenile, and District Court facilities. Duties include screening, monitoring, maintaining order, responding to alarms, and assisting the public.

Candidates must meet Civil Service standards, be a U.S. citizen or eligible, have a high school diploma or GED, a Washington driver’s license, and at least two years of law enforcement or corrections experience; training and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or DACA recipient with English proficiency.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Washington driver’s license.
• Two years’ law enforcement or corrections experience.
• Graduate from WA LEA/Reserve or equivalent training; or federal LE experience.
• Must pass background checks and maintain AED/CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Operate screening monitors and weapon screening equipment.
• Conduct searches to inspect for dangerous objects.
• Secure and process weapons when necessary.
• Monitor court facilities via CCTV.
• Control public access to reduce risk and ensure safety.
• Respond to alarms and assist with evacuations.
• Provide information and directions to the public.
