Job summary

The Military Department of the State of Vermont seeks an armed civilian Force Protection Officer (FPO) to support the Air National Guard Security Forces Squadron at the Burlington ANG Base. You will secure aircraft, hangars, restricted areas, explosives, and ammunition, and control entry for personnel and visitors.

This Limited Service role may require night/weekend shifts, and operations with firearms, uniforms, and security clearances. Apply online; multiple positions may be filled.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 1+ year security/law enforcement experience.
• Law enforcement, corrections, security, technical school or police academy program completion.
• Current or past membership in a military organization, Active or Reserve/National Guard.
• Two years full-time college coursework in related field.

Responsibilities

• Secure military aircraft, hangars, restricted areas, explosives and ammunition.
• Control entry of military and civilian personnel, contractors and visitors to installation.
• Provide limited military law enforcement services as needed.
• Work rotating shifts, including nights and inclement weather, and may work long periods alone.
