Job summary

V2X is seeking a Firefighter (Driver-Operator) to drive and operate firefighting vehicles, including ARFF apparatus, in support of an ICAO Category 8 airfield on Ascension Island. You will perform airfield and structural firefighting duties, and participate in a 48 hours on / 48 hours off schedule with on-base living accommodations.

The role requires holding DoD/IFSA ProBoard compliant certifications, EMT/CPR as applicable, and the ability to pass medical examinations.

Qualifications

Minimum one year specialized experience in controlling or extinguishing fires as part of military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade.
Experience in airfield and structural firefighting.
Certifications must be DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program, IFSAC, or ProBoard compliant.

Responsibilities

Drive and operate firefighting vehicles including ARFF apparatus at airfields.
Perform aircraft fire/rescue and firefighting duties on airfields with large or complex aircraft.
Standby during aircraft refueling/defueling and during engine maintenance, welding, or ammo handling.
Direct water through hoses to cool weapons and ammunition during rescue operations.
Maintain firefighting equipment and fire station facilities.
