Job summary

Northern Lights Locating and Inspection is hiring for an AREA SUPERVISOR - LOCATE in North Aurora, IL. The role oversees locating services, supervises field staff, and coordinates tickets with the regional team.

Responsibilities include monitoring tickets, audits, scheduling, and ensuring quality. Travel will be 75%+. Excellent communication and safety compliance are required, with competitive pay and full benefits.

Responsibilities

• Monitor tickets daily on the Northern Lights portal and adjust as volume requires.
• Locate designated areas to regulate ticket volume and ensure quality.
• Assist with monthly field and computer audits per Regional Supervisor.
• Track hours using Clock Shark and report hours daily.
• Read and follow emails promptly; acknowledge and respond as needed.
• Stay available 24/7 for field support and issue resolution.
• Supervise locators and address personnel issues with management/HR assistance.
• Review and approve timecards via email each Sunday.
• Coordinate vacation schedules and support team members with daily issues.
• Maintain morale among locators and support teams in the field.
• Identify areas needing locating assistance and schedule accordingly.
• Determine locator working hours to balance ticket volume.
• Assist with difficult locates and coordinate meet-ups.
• Calibrate equipment and document calibration results.
• Document initial damage reports and train new locators.
• Support safety initiatives per company policy.

STATUS: Full Time, Employee

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: Experience in locating required and supervisor experience required Reports to: Regional Supervisor Locating Services Direct Reports: Locate Technicians

JOB SUMMARY:

• Monitoring tickets throughout each day on the Northern Lights portal and trading/moving them as needed to accommodate volume and efficiency
• Locate a designated area or where help is needed to regulate volume and maintain customer quality
• Assist with monthly field and computer audits as directed by the Regional Supervisor
• Monitoring hours through Clock Shark each day
• Thoroughly read emails, checking emails/text messages often, acknowledge and follow up on emails that are sent to you
• Keep your phone on you and be available 24/7 with assistance
• Supervise locators / handle personnel issues with assistance from management and HR (as needed)
• Timecard Review and approval Sunday evenings via email to the Regional Supervisor
• Coordination of vacation schedules
• Support team members with daily issues/concerns
• Maintain and boost morale with locators in the field
• Locate in areas that need assistance or troubled specific locates
• Determine the working hours of locators so that ticket volume can be managed.
• Assist with shooting difficult locates – “schedule and assist with Meet-up”.
• Responsible for equipment calibration and documentation of calibration.
• First level – damage/damage reports initial documentation
• Training new locators
• Support safety initiatives per company policy
