Job summary

Meijer, a family-oriented retailer, seeks a Store Manager to drive day-to-day operations, mentor staff, and implement strategies that boost customer service and store sales while preserving presentation standards.

You’ll oversee staffing, development, and promotion decisions, lead initiatives to improve efficiency, manage P&L, and ensure training and compliance across departments. The role demands strong leadership and a commitment to Meijer’s service culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent required.
• 2-3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in store areas such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow experience helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clear direction and resolve conflicts.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions.
• Successful completion of all required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and supervises team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Mentors and coaches team members to meet service and sales goals.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to achieve staffing needs.
• Promotes succession planning and development paths.
• Documents disciplinary actions and handles discharge recommendations.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Models fast, friendly customer service and communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative.
• Ensures team training and adherence to company standards.
• Spends majority of time in-store communicating with customers and team members.
• Promotes a safe work environment and ensures reliable attendance.
