Job summary

City of New York Department of Transportation, Division of Bridges, is seeking an Area Supervisor (Highway Maintenance) Level I to oversee maintenance work on bridges, tunnels, and walls. You will assign crews, monitor progress, prepare reports, and respond to emergencies, including snow operations on the East River bridges, while ensuring safety and adherence to quality standards.

Position requires four years of relevant experience, supervisory responsibility, and a valid Class B CDL.

Qualifications

• Four years of full-time satisfactory experience as a working member of a roadway or bridge/tunnel maintenance and repair crew using asphalt and concrete mixes, and/or performing debris removal, mechanical sweeping, drain/scupper cleaning, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
• Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver License valid in the State of New York with no restrictions on the use of air brakes; license must be maintained for duration of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assign work locations; monitor and ensure work progress and quality; compile reports for citywide fence, asphalt, debris, mechanical sweeping, drain cleaning, deck sealing and/or community service crews.
• Respond to emergencies and oversee snow operations on the East River bridges as part of the anti-icing program.
• Keep job and other records; perform related duties.
