General Purpose
The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific area of the store, overall operations, and supervision when acting as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, proper merchandise presentation, and executing operational processes.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors in all tasks.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure safety and security, reporting unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, security of cash areas, and managing deliveries.
- Ensure clear egress to emergency exits and safety of customers, including accident prevention and reporting.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms as needed.
Customer Service
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect and professionalism.
- Recognize associates' efforts through company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure store cleanliness and merchandising standards.
- Manage daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards, supervising tasks and follow-up.
- Handle merchandise receiving and processing efficiently.
- Maintain organized stockrooms and ensure back-stock security.
- Assist with merchandise delivery and floor placement.
- Reduce loss due to damage and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.
- Manage floor moves, signage, and re-wraps.
Loss Prevention
- Follow Loss Prevention policies, maintaining a strong presence on the sales floor.
- Safeguard confidential information, including cash, credit card data, and merchandise.
- Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
- Implement company best practices to maximize productivity and minimize steps.
Front End Supervision & Operations
- Ensure front end standards, manage customer lines, and train associates on POS procedures.
- Control break schedules, equipment functionality, and supplies.
- Manage merchandise go-backs and teach best practices.
Fitting Rooms
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
- Audit and manage returned merchandise according to policy.
Administrative Duties
- Handle cash pulls, deposits, and payroll administration.
- Follow policies on refunds, tills, and scheduling.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Basic math skills.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use store equipment.
- Stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of the time.
- Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift over 25 lbs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Retail associates and stockroom leads (if applicable).
