General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific area of the Store, overseeing general operations and supervision when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They handle opening and closing the store, supervising Associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy-to-shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation and a clean work area, and execute company operational processes as needed.

Essential Functions

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:

• Understand safety as the top priority and practice safe behaviors.
• Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment, reporting unsafe conditions.
• Secure the building including entrance/exit control, EAS devices, Cash Office, and other security measures.
• Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
• Ensure customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
• Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms when needed.

Customer Service:

• Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
• Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize Associates through company programs.

Personal and Store Brand:

• Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
• Maintain a professional appearance according to the Dress Code.
• Keep all areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
• Responsible for daily trash removal.

General Merchandising:

• Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed per standards.
• Handle receiving merchandise trucks and process merchandise promptly.
• Maintain organization of stockrooms and back-stock.
• Assist with merchandise placement and signage, including promotional signage.
• Reduce loss due to damage and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.

Loss Prevention:

• Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a high customer service presence, and safeguard confidential information.
• Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
• Maximize productivity and minimize steps and touches.

Front End Supervision and Operations:

• Ensure front-end standards and manage customer lines efficiently.
• Train and coach associates on cash register operations and policies.
• Control break schedules and maintain equipment and supplies.
