Job Announcement

Under supervision of the Program Administrator I, the Child Care Specialist III will serve as a Virginia Quality Birth to Five (VQB5) Area Supervisor for the Ready Region Capital Area (RRCA). The RRCA includes Fairfax and Arlington counties, and the Cities of Fairfax, Falls Church, and Alexandria. The VQB5 Area Supervisor will be responsible for building local CLASS observer capacity through recruitment, onboarding, and professional learning, overseeing local CLASS observations, and collaborating with regional partners.

Illustrative Duties
  1. Plans and manages programs such as the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program.
  2. Manages grants, budgets, and disbursements.
  3. Interprets laws and regulations relevant to programs.
  4. Develops policies and procedures.
  5. Provides training and technical assistance for child care programs.
  6. Develops training programs on child development.
  7. Ensures quality assurance and recommends improvements.
  8. Performs planning and resource management.
  9. Prepares and approves communication materials.
  10. Monitors program data and reports.
  11. Coordinates with governmental and community organizations.
  12. Represents the program in task forces and partnerships.
  13. Supervises staff involved in training and evaluation.
  14. Handles recruitment and staffing issues.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Knowledge of program principles and methodologies.
  2. Understanding of fiscal policies.

Employment Standards

Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree, program management experience, CLASS certification, and experience in professional development.

Physical Requirements
