GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is a key member of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific area of the store, overseeing general operations and supervision when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They are responsible for opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring merchandise presentation, and keeping the store clean. They also execute and supervise company operational processes as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritizes safety and practices safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintains awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment; reports unsafe conditions.
- Responsible for building security, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, Cash Office security, and managing security during armored carrier pickups and register area.
- Removes clutter and ensures clear egress to emergency exits.
- Ensures customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
- Tests fire alarm systems and responds to after-hours alarms as needed.
Customer Service:
- Treats all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognizes associates through company programs.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
- Maintains a professional appearance per dress code; ensures associates do the same.
- Keeps store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed per standards.
- Receives merchandise trucks and processes all merchandise efficiently.
- Manages inbound deliveries and maintains stockroom organization.
- Assists with merchandising, back stock management, and loss reduction.
- Follows presentation guidelines and manages floor moves and signage.
Loss Prevention:
- Follows loss prevention awareness programs and maintains a visible presence.
- Safeguards confidential information and merchandise.
- Maintains PVM system and conducts package inspections.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Ensures front end standards and efficiency.
- Trains and coaches associates on POS and customer service procedures.
- Manages break schedules and equipment functionality.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
- Audits garment tags and manages merchandise returns.
Administrative Duties:
- Handles cash pulls, deposits, and payroll administration.
- Follows policies on refunds, tills, and cash security.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the store manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Fluency in English
- Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred
- Familiarity with POS equipment and applications
- Basic math skills
- Availability to work evenings and weekends
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, and perform physical tasks including lifting over 25 lbs. Some roles require pushing and pulling over 20 lbs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Retail associates and stockroom leads where applicable.
