GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the Store and the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They are responsible for opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and maintaining a clean work area. They also execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:

  • Understand safety as the top priority and practice safe behaviors.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment, reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS devices, Cash Office security, and other security measures.
  • Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Ensure customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms as needed.

Customer Service:

  • Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism, recognizing Associates through Company programs.

Personal and Store Brand:

  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance according to the Dress Code.
  • Keep all areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Responsible for daily trash removal.

General Merchandising:

  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed per standards.
  • Receive merchandise trucks when needed.
  • Process all merchandise with urgency.
  • Handle inbound deliveries and maintain stockroom organization.
  • Assist in delivering and placing merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Secure and process back-stock according to policy.
  • Merchandise the department and back stock, reduce damage loss, and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.
  • Manage floor moves, signage, and re-wraps as needed.

Loss Prevention:

  • Comply with Loss Prevention programs, maintain a customer service presence, and safeguard confidential information.
  • Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
  • Follow all Company Best Practices to maximize productivity.

Front End Supervision and Operations:

  • Ensure Front End standards are met, manage line pace, and train Associates on registers and policies.
  • Control break schedules, equipment functionality, and supplies.
  • Manage go-backs, security tagging, and merchandise salability.

Fitting Rooms:

  • Maintain cleanliness and audit garments.
  • Ensure merchandise return compliance.

Administrative Duties:

  • Handle cash pulls, bank deposits, and payroll administration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Previous Customer Service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with POS equipment and applications.
  • Basic math skills for retail calculations.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop, and occasionally lift over 25 lbs. Specific requirements apply to stockroom shifts.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
