Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store, as well as the overall operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They are responsible for opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy-to-shop environment. Their duties include ensuring proper merchandise presentation and maintaining a clean work area at all times. Additionally, they execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:

  • Practice safe behaviors and prioritize safety in all activities.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment, correcting or reporting unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Ensure security of the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, Cash Office security, and handling armored carrier pickups.
  • Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Promote customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after-hours alarms when needed.

Customer Service:

  • Treat Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect, demonstrating courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism.

Personal and Store Brand:

  • Represent and support the Company brand consistently.
  • Maintain a professional appearance according to the Dress Code and ensure all Associates adhere to it.
  • Keep all store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Manage daily trash removal.

General Merchandising:

  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed per standards through coaching and task management.
  • Receive merchandise trucks as needed and process all merchandise with urgency.
  • Handle inbound deliveries and maintain organized stockrooms.
  • Assist in delivering and placing merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Secure and process back-stock according to policy.
  • Manage merchandising, loss reduction, and presentation guidelines.
  • Oversee floor moves, signing, re-wraps, and promotional signage.

Loss Prevention:

  • Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a high customer service presence, and engage with Customers and Associates to prevent loss.
  • Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
