Job summary

HDR Engineering seeks an Area Substation Business Class Leader to guide technical excellence and deliverables within the Substation Business Class. You will lead or support area initiatives, mentor staff, and coordinate with regional teams on delivery and utilization goals.

Preferred candidates possess strong leadership, substation design knowledge, and PE licensure. The role emphasizes quality, collaboration, and active participation in HDR's employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and strong leadership experience.
• Experience designing or reviewing substation design packages.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and coordinate across offices.

Responsibilities

• Staff development and mentorship, onboarding and training content.
• Lead or support area technical initiatives and practice groups.
• Implement area standards, tools, and best practices.
• Lead project lessons learned and resource planning discussions.
• Support area recruitment and retention with leadership.
• Participate in Go/No-Go, proposals, and strategic pursuits.
• Lead technical reviews and drive HDR quality processes.
• Achieve 70%–75% project utilization through leadership
