Job summary

AERO Specialties is seeking a full-time Area Service Technician in Boise, ID to support customers worldwide. The role requires strong mechanical and electrical repair skills, plus the ability to diagnose issues via remote channels and perform on-site repairs.

Our full-time AERO Specialties Area Service Technician is responsible for assisting AERO customers world-wide with the support of a wide variety of ground support equipment. The qualified individual will have very strong electrical and mechanical skills along with a focus toward providing a high level of customer service.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose customer-reported issues on a variety of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) through remote support channels, including phone and email, while providing timely and effective solutions to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Perform repairs and adjustments to various components and operating systems on products, equipment, or related components.
  • Disassemble components and reassemble with limited assistance from others.
  • Problem-solving with customer teams to determine the best resolution to customer issues.
  • Provide training to customer teams and support their ability to properly operate and repair equipment.
  • Interact professionally with internal and external customers; this position requires a very strong customer service approach and ability to professionally work through customer issues.
  • Inspect, repair, and/or overhaul components, such as electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Complete service repairs, service bulletins, and training classes.
  • Maintain and update service tickets within the company's service management software, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of customer interactions, service activities, and case resolutions.
Requirements
What qualifies someone for this position?
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Minimum 3 years of service repair experience; in ground power, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills with some PLC experience and HVAC required.
  • Experience with diesel powered vehicles preferred.
  • Familiarity with the use of repair manuals, wiring (electrical) diagrams and schematics necessary to troubleshoot or repair failed components.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to effectively use necessary computer programs including Microsoft Office and an ERP.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in awkward positions and tight areas.
  • Must be able to lift weights exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Additional skills may be required to complete an additional task(s) specific to work location.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and no travel restrictions, including international travel as needed.
