Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Area Safety Manager to lead loss prevention initiatives across an assigned area. You will coach a team, ensure OSHA/DOT compliance, and drive proactive safety programs to minimize injuries and improve performance.

Responsibilities include investigating incidents, reporting trends, conducting training, and coordinating with HR for return-to-work programs, while maintaining a strong safety culture across multiple units.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal communication across levels and external partners.
• Ability to write reports with minimal direction.
• Intermediate Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a high-volume environment.
• Advanced customer service orientation.
• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and safety standards.
• Professional safety certification (NSC or Safety Management degree).
• Successful completion of 40-hour OSHA compliance course.

Responsibilities

• Coach and develop a team to lift performance and ensure service levels.
• Investigate serious accidents and monitor investigations of minor incidents.
• Ensure area loss prevention programs comply with OSHA/DOT and safety regulations.
• Monitor safety program implementation and take corrective actions where targets are missed.
• Provide safety training and manage return-to-duty programs with HR and leadership.
• Deliver timely accident/injury trends and compliance reports to Area leadership.
