JOB Title: Area Operations Manager – Radiologic Technologist and Sonographer

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, California (with travel to San Leandro and surrounding service areas)

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (may vary); On-site in San Leandro 2x per week

Position Summary:

Our client, a leading healthcare services provider, is seeking an Area Operations Manager responsible for overseeing the daily operations and supervision of Radiologic Technologists and Sonographers throughout the Bay Area. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills to manage mobile diagnostic services, maintain regulatory compliance, optimize operational efficiency, and ensure outstanding service delivery.

As the Area Operations Manager, you will be instrumental in planning staffing schedules, conducting performance evaluations, supporting clinical services, and managing departmental P&L. You must demonstrate a proactive approach to solving technical and operational challenges while maintaining high standards for patient care and regulatory compliance.

Staffing and Support:

You will supervise a team of licensed Radiologic Technologists and Sonographers, coordinating closely with upper management, fleet maintenance teams, and operational support staff. Collaboration and clear communication between mobile teams and corporate leadership are crucial for success.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  1. Plan and implement staffing schedules within the designated region based on operational needs.
  2. Monitor team performance and forecast service and resource needs for effective personnel and financial management.
  3. Ensure full compliance with state regulations, radiology best practices, and safety protocols.
  4. Provide direct clinical interaction by performing X-rays or ultrasound studies when necessary.
  5. Conduct staff evaluations, coaching, and counseling, with recommendations for promotions, corrective actions, or terminations.
  6. Maintain effective communication between management and field technologists.
  7. Manage supply ordering, equipment maintenance, and repairs for mobile units and clinical sites.
  8. Orient and train new employees on company policies, clinical procedures, and operational standards.
  9. Identify technical issues in the field and assist technologists with troubleshooting and quality improvement.
  10. Oversee fleet maintenance scheduling for mobile imaging vehicles.
  11. Maintain and monitor dosimetry reports for radiation safety compliance.
  12. Ensure clinical credentialing, ongoing training, and service quality monitoring for all technologists.
  13. Actively contribute to operational strategy planning and implementation alongside senior leadership.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification/license.
  • Valid Driver License (DL) and ability to travel up to 50% within the service area.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of supervisory experience in a clinical or mobile imaging environment.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of field work experience (preferably mobile radiology or sonography).
  • Experience with Meditech RAD – Radiology system (1+ years).
  • Proof of up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination.
