Job summary

Responsibilities

• Lead overnight operations for assigned area, ensuring tasks meet schedule.
• Supervise and develop a team of 15+ cleaners and equipment operators.
• Assign work, set priorities, and adjust staffing to meet service expectations.
• Oversee terrazzo floor care including cleaning, scrubbing, and polishing.
• Oversee carpet maintenance including vacuuming, extraction, and deep cleaning.
• Ensure proper use of equipment, chemicals, and dilution ratios.
• Conduct routine inspections and address deficiencies.
• Train staff on procedures, equipment, safety, and client expectations.
• Monitor attendance, productivity, and performance; address issues promptly.
• Coordinate floor care projects with site leadership.
• Maintain supplies and storage areas; report maintenance needs.
• Communicate staffing needs and safety concerns to leadership.
• Maintain safe work areas with signage, PPE, and proper equipment use.
• Provide hands-on support as needed and perform other duties.

You will lead a team of 15 or more employees, ensuring cleaning and floor care work meets client expectations, quality standards, and safety requirements. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with experience managing janitorial teams in large facilities and a strong working knowledge of terrazzo maintenance, carpet care, and commercial cleaning equipment.

Job Description

Schedule: Overnight, 9:00 p.m.–5:30 a.m

Duties And Responsibilities

• Lead overnight operations for your assigned area, ensuring cleaning and floor care tasks are completed on schedule.
• Supervise, coach, and develop a team of 15 or more cleaners, floor technicians, and equipment operators.
• Assign work, establish priorities, and adjust staffing to maintain coverage and meet service expectations.
• Oversee terrazzo floor care, including routine cleaning, automatic scrubbing, and polishing or burnishing as appropriate for the floor finish and approved maintenance procedures.
• Oversee carpet maintenance, including vacuuming, spot removal, extraction, and scheduled deep cleaning.
• Ensure employees use the correct equipment, chemicals, dilution ratios, and cleaning methods for each surface.
• Conduct routine inspections, address service deficiencies, and verify corrective work is completed.
• Train employees on cleaning procedures, equipment operation, safe work practices, and client expectations.
• Monitor attendance, timekeeping, productivity, and employee performance; address concerns promptly.
• Coordinate periodic floor care and detailed cleaning projects with site leadership.
• Monitor supplies and equipment, report maintenance needs, and maintain organized storage areas.
• Communicate staffing needs, service issues, safety concerns, and shift updates to site leadership.
• Maintain safe work areas through proper signage, chemical handling, personal protective equipment, and equipment use.
• Provide hands‑on support as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or management experience in janitorial, custodial, or facilities services.
• Experience leading a team of 15 or more employees preferred.
• Experience working in a large facility with extensive hard‑surface flooring and carpeted areas.
• Working knowledge of terrazzo floor care, carpet cleaning, and commercial cleaning chemicals.
• Experience operating or overseeing automatic scrubbers, floor machines, burnishers, and carpet extractors.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accountability, and work independently overnight.
• Ability to work the scheduled 9:00 p.m.–5:30 a.m. shift.

Pre‑Employment Requirements

• Must successfully complete a pre‑employment background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record (MVR) check.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet company driving eligibility requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout a large facility.
• Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and operate commercial cleaning equipment.
• Ability to lift and move cleaning supplies and equipment as required, with or without reasonable accommodation.
