Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking an Area Engineer to lead transportation operations across several counties within the Beaumont District. You will oversee construction and maintenance programs, manage a team, and influence a diverse portfolio including roadway rehabilitation and bridge work.

The role requires several years in transportation engineering, supervisory experience, and a professional engineering license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science as required.
• 5 years transportation engineering experience; graduate education may substitute.
• 1 year supervisory/managerial experience required.

Responsibilities

• Approves and inspects driveway, utility and drainage fill permits and monitors removal of illegal signs.
• Directs administrative and business operation activities including HR, training, inventory, safety and budgets.
• Directs development of work programs to meet transportation needs and oversees contractors' compliance with plans and specifications.
