Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking an experienced Transportation Engineer to lead professional and administrative staff and assist Project Managers in establishing realistic baselines for highly complex projects in Texas. The position requires developing SOPs for scheduling, budgeting, and quality metrics, and coordinating contract submissions with Area Engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science.
• 7–8 years of engineering/transportation experience for Engineer IV/V roles.
• Valid driver's license; PE license requirements and Texas-specific compliance.

Responsibilities

• Leads and trains professional and administrative staff.
• Assists Project Managers to establish schedule baselines for complex projects.
• Develops and supports SOPs for scheduling, resources, budgets, changes and quality metrics.
• Reviews contract issues and assists in dispute resolution.
• Coordinates with Area Engineers and reviews contract submissions.
• Monitors contract performance and prepares evaluations of consultants.
• Performs advanced engineering design work including layouts and plans.
• Prepares Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E) submissions.
• Requires driving a state vehicle.
