Job summary

Ascent Hospitality in Birmingham, AL, seeks an Area Director of Sales to lead the strategy and execution for two new-opening hotels, AC Hotel & Element. You will build demand, establish key accounts, and create revenue opportunities from the ground up.

You will partner with General Managers and corporate leadership to ensure opening success and sustained growth, shaping a winning sales culture in a dynamic market.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Director of Sales, Area Director of Sales, or senior hotel sales leader.
• Strong background in hotel sales, business development, group sales, or revenue generation.
• Experience with new hotel openings or pre-opening sales is highly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall sales strategy and business development efforts for both new-opening hotels.
• Develop and execute pre-opening sales plans to build demand, brand awareness, and revenue.
• Identify and secure new corporate, group, government, leisure, sports, and local market accounts.
• Build strong relationships with key businesses, meeting planners, travel partners, event professionals, and community organizations.
• Develop strategic partnerships and establish a strong presence within the Birmingham market.
• Conduct sales calls, client meetings, property tours, networking events, and community outreach.
• Generate and convert leads for group business, meetings, events, corporate travel, and long-term accounts.
• Develop and maintain an active sales pipeline with consistent prospecting and follow-up.
• Work closely with General Managers and hotel leadership to achieve occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and overall revenue goals.
• Create sales presentations, proposals, packages, and account strategies tailored to target markets.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, pricing, and new business opportunities.
• Track sales production, account activity, leads, bookings, and revenue performance.
• Represent both hotels professionally throughout the Birmingham business and hospitality community.
• Recruit, coach, and develop sales team members as the hotels grow.
