Job summary

UIC Science seeks an Outreach and Engagement Manager to lead an established Arctic outreach program that partners with communities and researchers. You will build a team to promote two-way communication and ensure findings are shared with communities through events and school programs.

The role requires cultural awareness, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to collaborative knowledge co-production with Arctic communities, including Utqiaġvik and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with Indigenous Arctic communities and ability to engage respectfully.
• Bachelor of Science or similar degree required; Master’s preferred.
• Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to present to groups.
• Willingness to travel and work in Arctic environments.
• Experience with O&E or community engagement is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the outreach and engagement program.
• Supervise Science Liaisons and assign tasks.
• Create content for media platforms and events.
• Submit program deliverables as per contracts.
• Engage Utqiaġvik and other Arctic communities to support co-production of knowledge.
• Monitor progress and report to stakeholders.
• Develop presentations for conferences and build partnerships with regional institutions.
• Plan local outreach events and manage annual science fair planning.
