Job summary

UIC Science seeks an Outreach and Engagement Manager to lead its Arctic outreach program, partnering with researchers and communities to ensure responsible, two-way communication. The role focuses on sharing results with communities through public events, school programs, and engagement activities.

The ideal candidate will build a team, oversee budgets, collaborate with partners, and develop co-produced knowledge with Indigenous communities across Alaska.

Qualifications

• Experience working with Indigenous Arctic communities is required.
• BS or related field; travel willingness and strong presentation skills.
• Advanced computer skills with MS Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the outreach and engagement program and manage scope, schedule, and budget.
• Supervise science liaisons and ensure effective team performance.
• Create content for podcasts, flyers, and event programs.
• Deliver weekly/monthly program deliverables per contracts.
• Engage Utqiaġvik and other Arctic communities to co-produce knowledge.
• Report on project progress and maintain stakeholder transparency.
• Build relationships with Alaska institutions and partners.
• Plan presentations for conferences to emphasize community co-production.
• Organize local outreach events with the Science Liaison.
• Lead planning for the annual BARC Science Fair in Utqiaġvik.
• Represent UIC Science at meetings and prepare cost estimates for proposals.
• Travel to Utqiaġvik as needed; design new outreach initiatives.
