Job summary

PND Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer (PE) to support civil projects across Alaska. You will prepare analyses, foundation design, slope stability, permafrost and seismic design, and contract documents for marine and arctic structures.

You will plan onshore/offshore investigations in urban to remote settings, and translate fieldwork into detailed technical reports with the team. Travel to remote Alaska areas is possible.

Qualifications

  • Master of science in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus.
  • Three or more years of relevant geotechnical consulting experience preferred; however, those with less experience are welcome to apply.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain Alaska PE within six months.
  • Experience in cold-regions foundation design and permafrost/arctic engineering highly desired.
  • Strong English writing and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to produce well‑organized, clear, complete, and concise technical reports; original writing samples may be requested.
  • Ability to travel for field work in Alaska; travel to other U.S. and Canada possible.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare geological analyses, foundation design, slope stability analysis, permafrost design, thermal analysis, seismic design, and contract documents for marine/arctic structures.
  • Plan on‑shore and off‑shore geotechnical investigations in urban to remote settings, and work independently or in teams in frozen/thawed ground.
  • Translate fieldwork results into real‑world analyses and problem‑solving through detailed technical reports for clients.
  • Collaborate with geotechnical team to support decision making on project design and implementation.
  • Contribute to written technical reports and client deliverables.
