Job summary

PND Engineers, Inc. in Juneau, Alaska is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer. You will support civil projects throughout Alaska, performing geological analyses, foundation design, slope stability, and seismic design, and produce contract documents for marine structures, retaining walls and site development.

Qualifications include a Civil Engineering degree with geotechnical focus, FE exam, strong written English, and willingness to travel for field work. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus.
• Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (F.E.) exam.
• Interest in cold-regions foundation design.
• Strong English writing and communication skills.
• Ability to produce well-organized, clear, complete, and concise technical reports.
• Ability to travel for field work in remote areas, sometimes in adverse conditions but always with breathtaking scenery, throughout Alaska.
• Ongoing U.S. work authorization without need for employer sponsorship.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Prepare geological analyses, foundation design, slope stability analysis, seismic design, and contract documents for marine structures, retaining walls, soil improvement, roads, bridges and general site civil development.
• Assist in planning on-shore and off-shore geotechnical investigations in settings ranging from urban to remote.
• Translate fieldwork and results into real-world analyses and problem solving through detailed technical reports.
